Starting School After Applying For Adjustment of Status Based on Marriage
Hi. I came to the U.S. last month on a tourist visa, which is valid till February/2010. I am getting married to a legal american citizen next month, and I already got enrolled at a school here. I would like to know whether or not I should continue going to school since I'm on a tourist visa or wait till after we get married. Thank you.

We can't answer your question until you tell us how you were able to enroll without being a Citizen, Legal permanent resident or have the I20 VISA for international students?

From what I know, and I could be wrong, you should not have been elligible to enroll, so I can't say for sure if you should continue.

It is a secondary school, where I am getting my GED certificate. All I had to do to get enrolled was fill out some paperwork, which I had no problem doing and since then they haven't said anything.
    thanks for all the advice.

I am not sure how those programs work, I was assuming it was college. When I was looking at the I-20 visa for students, I came across this one line about taking courses on a visitor VISA.

"If you are going to the U.S. primarily for tourism, but want to take a short course of study of less than 18 hours per week, you may be able to do so on a visitor visa"

I guess the best advice is to make sure the administrators at the school program you are enrolled know the full truth about your status and intent of adjusting status. If they say indicate you can still enroll, then go ahead.

I don't think those kinds od programs require one to be a USC or LPR. It's just the colleges and even if she applies for adjustment of status, she will have to wait till she's been given the conditional card before enrolling in any College.I'd suggest that you advise them of your status because you'll end up putting yourself in a hell lot of trouble especially if that school is getting any funds from the state or government.
