Civil Demand Hasn't Arrived
So about 4 months ago I was caught shoplifting at a store in Georgia. The merchandise was just over $100. The police were not called. The loss prevention person told me that I MIGHT be receiving a civil demand. In the 4 months since the incident I have not heard one thing from them. I am more than willing to pay the fine since I feel so guilty about the incident. I also feel a relief since the LP said no police will be involved.
Do you have any idea why it is taking so long?
Is there a chance I won't get one?
I am NOT calling the store/civil recovery department. I do not want to have attention drawn to me.
Thanks in advance for any advice or personal stories from your own situation.
**Also, I did not have my driver's license on me. I did give them real information w/ an alternative form of ID. the ID did NOT have my address or contact info on it. Is it possible that they thought I lied and maybe it's too high risk for them?

Nope. Many loss recovery departments are swamped, dealing with people who haven't yet figured out how not to steal.

Maybe. Only the store you stole from can answer you for sure.

Then your option is to sit and wait.
