    Transporting Inmates Between States
My friend was picked up in Denver March 1 by the US Marshals for an arrest warrent that was put out in Sacramento. They moved him from Denver county jail March 15. How long can they take transporting him to Sacramento? It has been 8days and he still is not in California.
I unstand they don't tell you where or when for safety reasons but I just want to know if they have a set amount of time.

Is he fighting extradition? That would slow things down.

Then it shouldn't take long. But specifically how long? That would be a pure guess.

Transportation is often done by contractors. If it WAS done by the US Marshalls, they probably are doing it in much the same was as a contractor would ... like a bus. They do pick-ups and drop-offs at a number of different places along a circuitous route. They may stop a couple times a day at different facilities while on their way out here.

Arranging interstate inmate transfers is a little like routing a train schedule ... timing is everything.
