    Washington Emancipation Laws
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Washington.
Well you have probably heard teh same sad story over and over again. My Girlfriend lives in an abusive household with 2 mothers, one is very religous teh verbal and emotional abuser, the other is a retired cop the physical abuser. Things had escalated around her 17th birthday in april and in may her parent had her sent to a boarding school, proir to boarding school she was attempting to get emancipated, her parents had agreed to sign it and told her she would never make it on her own. She is now in Turning Winds in Troy Montana so I would also like to know about Montana laws on Emancipation. I would just really like to do more than sit and wait for her safe return, she'll be back in a year or a little less but that will do more than put strain on our relationship, she's lost her job and will lose touch with life-long friends and I have no Idea if she has the facilities to continue working in the career path she wants

It doesn't matter what the laws of either state are, unless and until she's able to show a court that she's got a solid and documented history of being self supporting - which she's not. Emancipation is entirely centered on whether (a) the minor in question NEEDS the legal protections and options possible with emancipation (it's intent is to provide legal protections and options for youth who for reasons beyond their control are already supporting themselves), and (b) whether the minor can SHOW a court proof that self-sufficiency is already occurring and has a far above average chance of continuing. No job = no way to show a court that she can be entirely self sufficient = no possibility of emanciption.

So because her parents screwed her out of a job they got her locked down? If I would have known they were going to cross her and do this I would have had her live with me until the court date.

And then you could have looked forward to some jail time.
