I Was Told My Medical Treatment Was Covered by Insurance but It Wasn't
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Michigan
I was sent to the hospital for tests by my doctor. When I arrived at the hospital I told the receptionist that I was out of work and did not want the tests if it wasn't covered under my insurance. I was told it was and then got a bill for $5000.. The hospital is now suing me for failure to pay and I have been out of work for a year. I have 20 days to respond to the courts. :wallbang:

When you followed up with the clinic, what did they tell you in relation to why a service they initially thought was covered was not covered? What did your insurance company tell you when you followed up with them?
Whatever the clerk said, it's your job to know what your insurance covers, and you would have signed a contract stating that you would pay for any services you receive not covered by your insurance.
