Statutory Rape

I need a better understanding of this law, I'm 19 in a relationship with a 14 year old, the mother does not want me with her daughter however we are insanely in love and it seems that it's pretty much sticking.

What I want to know is whether or not I can go to jail for exhibiting public displays of affection, that is if I kiss her in front of a cop can he arrest me for that?

Or is it only when her mom reports this? How much time am I looking at if she does report this? I heard things about Romeo and Juliet laws but I'm not sure about them, if some can elaborate on them also please. Thanks in advance.

If mama says NO, then the answer is NO! She is a minor, so she does not get to make these decisions for herself. Go find a nice 18 or 19 year old to date and leave the little girl alone!

Not all states have "Romeo and Juliet" laws, so-called, and of those that do, few of them are for as many as five years.

If you'll tell us what state you're in, we'll tell you how many years you can go to jail for.

To answer your question, it doesn't have to be her mother who reports you; it can be anyone who finds it inappropriate for a legal adult (that's you) to be with a legal child (that's her).

Regardless of what state you're in, at 14 her mother has 100% control over who she sees and who she doesn't. If mom says no, there is NOTHING in the law (and I don't care what kind of what-ifs you come up with) that is going to force her to allow it. You have no legal rights, no legal standing, and the law is going to back Mom 100% of the time.
