    Juvenile, Very Small Possession
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Pennsylvania.
While driving home, I accidentally cut off someone which lead to a police officer to follow us for blocks. He pulled up next to us at a red light then pulled us over immediatly when the light turned. His reason to pull me over was because he thought he saw my passenger with a plastic baggie.
At first he ordered that he was going to search the car until I told him no he had no reason to. So eventually, my father, who is also a police officer, was contacted to conduct a complete search of the car. They found less than .5 grams of weed on the floor throughout the car.
The officer continued to tell my passenger we were going to get let go, but soon arrested me for possession. He read me no rights and soon I was taken for booking. My passenger was free to go home with nothing.
So whats the most common thing that usually happens and is it possible to walk away without probation and just receive small fines?
P.s., Im only 17 and i have no past offenses for anything what so ever.

    Thanks for the help.

Im pretty sure, when i was taken in for booking they filled everything in juvi records. Do diversion programs usually go along with probation? Im trying to get out of it with just some fines if thats possible.

Your father was part of the team that arrested you? Your punishment at home may be worse than the one the court gives you....

Juvenile courts, assuming that's where your going, have broad discretion in fashioning a punishment that they believe is in the best interest of a young offender. There is a procedure for sealing your juvenile records that you can follow once you're an adult. See 18 Pa.C.S.A. § 9123.

The best advice we can give you is now that you have seen part of the trouble illegal drugs can get you into, you would be wise to avoid them, and the people who take them. Other wise, this probably won't be your last rodeo. And as an adult, the consequences will be a lot worse.
