    Recently Caught Shoplifting
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Hampshire

Hi, I was recently caught shoplifting from Kohl's in New Hampshire. My friend and I walked out of the store with the merchandise. In my purse I had three shirts totalling 84$. We went with the LP willingly; no struggle or anything. We were both arrested and because I am originally from Mass, I had o pay a 640$ bail. This is my first offense ever. I've never done something this stupid before in my life. My friend told me it was easy to do so i went along with it. I'm such an idiot for doing that. I've lost the trust of my whole family, and I'm no onger a role moel to my little sister. Everyday is terrible because I know I let them down. I wrote apology notes to the officer who had family plans and which he cancelled to take us in and I felt horrible for taking him away from them for such a stupid mistake. and I also wrote and spoke to the LP in which to apolgize for my childish actions. I know it doesn't ount for much but I needed them to know that I am sorry for everything. Well now my friend hired a lawyer, which i don't know about because we both did it, we are guilty. I don't know how he's going to negciate anything. but my question is, do i need a lawyer? and what is going to happen to me? Thanks for your help.

    Re: Help
A lawyer is a good idea, even for just a consultation to ask questions.

I don't know your age....but if you are in your teens, you may be able to get something like Youthful Offender, Deferred Sentence. It's definitely worth the time to consult with a lawyer, ask questions, and possibly hire the lawyer.

It also really speeds up the process, atleast in my case it did. Instead of multiple court dates (Arraignment, Pre-Trial, Trial, Sentencing), it was all done in one day. Really put my mind at ease.
