What to Expect for Shoplifting in Tennessee
I live in Knox Co TN and recently caught shoplifting from a local walmart (stupid! I know..:wallbang:) it totalled around $23.. I was written a misdemeanor citation and have to go to the city/county building in the morning to be "booked and processed." I have no idea what any of this involves, I've never been in any sort of trouble before and I'm pretty scared even though I don't think I will get punishment that's too severe... I'd just like an idea of what to expect..
also I was just hired at a place that required me to release my arrest record. will this show up on there?

"Booked and processed" - fingerprints, mugshot.

Since you just did this after being hired, you're gonna be lucky and your employer won't see it (unless they made the request AFTER hiring you and after you did this).

Punishment: The store will probably be sending a Civil Demand letter for $200+. Pay it immediately.

In court, expect fines of another few hundred. They may throw in an anti-shoplifting class or Community Service, depending on your area, judge, etc.
