15 Year Old Dating a 18 Year Old
My question involves criminal law for the state of:
I have a bit of a issue. I found a boy who i really really like and we have alot in common. I met him on myspace. We started texting and talking on the phone and we can talk for hours. He was the perfect boy until he lied about his age. He's a year younger than he told me making him 14. I am currently 17. However, his birthday and mine are like a week separate so he will be 15 and i'll be 18 soon. We want to meet up this week but i am worried, is this illegal? If it matters we live in Michigan and the AOC is 16. I know we can't have sex, but would it be okay if we met up just to talk and hang out?
Re: 15 Year Old Dating a 18 Year Old
If BOTH sets of parents are all right with it, yes.
There are no laws in any state regarding who may date. There are laws in every state regarding who may have sexual contact. Please keep in mind that sexual contact is not even remotely limited to sexual intercourse but includes anything sexual whatsoever. So as long as you're okay with limiting your physical contact with him to a high five, to limiting your conversation to nothing more stimulating than his algebra homework, and his parents are okay with his seeing you, you're all set. But if his parents say no, then that's that, it's no. And it will continue to be no until either they change their minds or he turns 18. The AOC has nothing at all to do with when he can ignore his parents.

If I were you, I'd hang out in a very public place like a mall. Do not discuss sex at all, not even "sexting" or talking about sex on the internet.
