Name Change Complications As a College Student in a Lawsuit
My question involves civil rights in the State of: new york (going to college in georgia)
i will turn 18 soon and I'm going to take the citizenship test and change my name legally in the process.
will this affect my financial aid?
also, do i need to change my name on my high school diploma (for job interviews)?
i was also in a car accident and currently suing the driver who injured me. will my name change lead to complications to that as well?

I don't see why it would affect your financial aid, as long as you keep everybody informed of the name change and new name. Prospective employers may want documentation to establish that your past academic records are in fact yours; we can't speak for any given employer, let alone every employer in the world, so you'll have to ask them what they require.
People in litigation change their names. Most often, it's a changed surname due to marriage. This is no different. Often the caption is changed to reflect the new name, e.g., "Jane Smith (f/k/a Jones) v Daniel Boone". (f/k/a = "formerly known as"). Your lawyer can handle this or, if this is small claims court and you have no lawyer, you can check with the court clerk to see if they have name change procedures you should follow.
