    Unemployment and Post 9/11 Benefits
I live in Illinois and am wondering if anyone out there has ever received unemployment and Veteran Education benefits simultaneously. I want to go to school and try to receive unemployment benefits while looking for work. Since they don't really have anything to do with each other, (unemployment issued by the state and GI benefits non-taxed by the Government) I assume I can do this? Anyone that knows anything about this, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Unlikely, if you're planning on going to school full-time. In order to be eligible for UI benefits, you need to be ready, able and willing to work, be actively job searching, and be able to accept a reasonable job offer. The state usually determines that meeting these requirements is nearly impossible if you are attending school full-time.

Thanks for the reply. I'll be going to school full time but it doesn't prevent me from working. My schedule is well put together. I only have classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. Not only can I work, but probably 30+ hours a week. Should I even tell unemployment here in illinois that I'm going to school and getting Post 9/11 benefits? How would they even find out? Any other replies are greatly appreciated.
