My question involves criminal law for the state of: Connecticut
In a criminal procedure (fraud/possible forgery?), if the claimant witness dies of a natural cause while the case is still open and there are no other witnesses, does the case close?

no. if the case can be prosecuted without that witness being there, the DA would proceed. If it has become an unwinnable case, the DA will most likely drop the charges.
