Im not sure if this is the right fourm, but I have a question.
My name is nicole mills and i am 22 years old. I have been trying to go back to school for a while now. The only problem that I have is when it comes to the finacial part my mother will not sign any papers. Since I am under 24 I am still considered dependant of her even though i have been on my own since i was 16 years old. I really want to go back to school, but I am not sure what to do. Can anyone help me please. Thank you for your time.

Your mother is not obligated to fill out the FAFSA, regardless of whether the government considers you a dependent or not. At 22, you're an adult, and ought not count on your mother's income or help in securing financial aid.

What you do in this situation is meet with a Financial Aid Officer at your college to sort out what other aid you might be eligible for - including scholarships and work-study programs.

And you go find a job that will be willing to work around your class schedule.
