My question involves name change laws in the State of: Texas
I have 2 children. They have differnet fathers. I was not married to either. Both children have my last name. My youngest child's (2months old) father has just requested that I changer her last name to his. Because we were never married I do not agree with this and feel strongly that my kids have my last name.
Does the father have a leg to stand on? What is the Texas law regarding this?
Sure...One paternity has been established and court orders set he has the same rights as you do regarding the naming of his child.
Judges will "generally" order a hyphenation of both parents name...ie...Smith-Jones.
