Arrested Twice No Charges Filed

my friends boyfriends brother and one one his friend have now been arrested
twice for the same thing thief1 and tresspassing . they went to jail car was inpounded next day charges drop (they had her car) so she called next day and about car and was told it was at pierce co. shreiffs and they were getting search warrent for car to be searched so she called everyday for a week they said they still did not search so sunday night they came picked-up the brother rearrested same charges diffent case no. so next morning called couldn't get a hold of anyone who know anything about getting her car than the kid went for bail hearing at 1pm and again no charges filed and stay no return call about getting car? any advice on this? and how many times can they do this? rearrest deal.:confused::wallbang:

Until the statute of limitations expires.
If you could try to explain that more clearly, we might be able to give you a better sense of what's going on. Or, as would be sensible, your friend's boyfriend can consult a criminal defense lawyer.

Like already said, until the statute of limitations expires...but really, more information is needed. The police could be investigating multiple thefts, in which your friend is involved with all of them.
Not sure if double jeoapardy would apply as of yet, or even if your state protects from it (though the 14th amend. would probably be invoked). Until a jury is sworn, double J doesn't typically attach.
And, if ever arrested...even if you're a legal expert, ALWAYS consult with an attorney.
And as long as they have reasonable susp. to believe that evidence is contained in that car, they can hold it until a search warrant is issued (for a reasonable amount of time). If you really want to get the wheels turning, file a civil suit for theft against the police department...I don't personally advise that, but it will definetly get them moving.
