What Do I Do
My question involves child support in the State of: Kentucky
I was paying 150 a month to the state of hawaii for a child that was in the state of Kentucky. I moved almost a year ago, and had "assumed" my wages were being garnished automatically to cover the child support payments. I have since learned that was not the case, the garnishment was for a old school loan. I only figured this out after the sheriffs office contacted my mother concerning serving me papers and having 20 days to respond....and now I owe 1 year back support. What can I do? What is the best course of action? I can not aford to pay it back in one lump sum....

Re: What Do I Do
Your best course of action is to work out a payment plan for your arrearage - typically, this requires keeping your regular payments current and adding a specified amount to that payment every month until the arrearage is paid off.
