    Shoplifting Second Offense
My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY

The story begins with a couple of months back i was Shoplifting and got caught and was arrested and was charged with petit larceny. Went to court and was given an ACD that required me to complete a stop shoplifting class.

Last weekend i was caught shoplifting again and they find items from other stores in my bags and was charged with 13 charges of Possesion of Stolen Property Class A Misdemeanor 5th Degree 165.40. I had to spend a night in jail. I have a court hearing next week. I also had to pay $2500 in civil charges which i paid off with my credit card before i was cuffed by the police.

What will happen will I almost definetly have to spend time locked up as I violated my ACD? Will I definetly now get a record? I am 23 years old and still currently attend college. Any advice is appreciated!

I suggest you get a good criminal defense lawyer, and see what you can do to minimize the damage to yourself. I suggest you also check with your college to see if they offer psychological counseling to students, and take advantage of whatever they offer.

Get a good criminal defense lawyer. Plan on having a record for many years. And before finishing that college degree, I would make sure your criminal history won't affect it.
