Underage Consumption in Georgia
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia (Cobb County)
I was given a citation for underage consumption last night. I dont have any idea what is going to happen because this is my first experience with the law. I have been given a court date set for a few months. They said that it would be very helpful to take a DUI risk reduction course. I admitted to drinking and they didn't breathalyze me or take me to jail. I wasn't driving and have my class C license. Ill be attending college in the fall. What are the punishments I could be looking at? Fine, probation, loss of license? Anything you could tell me would really help I can't seem to find much on the internet about this...Thanks
Re: Underage Consumption in Georgia
What's the exact charge on the citation - statute or ordinance number?
Have you signed up for the DUI risk reduction course yet?
Re: Underage Consumption in Georgia
It says in violation of code: 3-3-23
If thats not what your talking about I can take another look.
No I have not signed up for the class yet, all this happened two nights ago.
Re: Underage Consumption in Georgia
In Georgia, it is a misdemeanor with penalties of up to 6 months in jail and/or a fine up to $300.00, also a 6 month suspension of driver’s license.
however since its your first charge you are eligible for a diversion program consult and attorney about this possibility
good luck
