Petit Larceny in Virginia
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia
i stole a cd from target one day and didnt get caught. and i was there the next day and decided to steal 2 video games(stupid, i know). i was caught with the games in my pocket and taken to the "loss prevention" room. they had the cd case i had taken the cd out of the previous day which i also got charged with. i was cooperative with the taget manager and he in turn told the cops who i was also very cooperative with. the total amount stolen was 129.97 but since they were on different days i was charged with two counts of petit larceny. i was appointed a public defender who pretty much said meet me at court on your court date. i had a completely clean record before this so i assume they might take it easier on me. what is the likely punishment? and since i received two counts will the judge even care that my record was previously clean? ive been looking at going into the coastguard and any chance the charges might be dropped because of enlisting? I also read about the bill in virginia that you will undergo a drug abuse screening on your second offense of petit larceny, will that apply to me?
thanks for the help

Virginia takes a very tough stance when it comes to shoplifting. You are likely facing some mandatory jail time. You don't give your age - my response is based on your being an adult.
