    Shoplifting in Christchurch Shopping Centre
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Christchurch in New Zealand.

I had stolen a shirt from Farmers last night, costing $25.
I walked out of the store and 2 security guards approached me and identified the item I had stolen hidden in my bag.
They pressed me with a trespass notice for 2 years and a "Notice of Civil Recovery Demand" asking for 325 NZD (New Zealand Dollars).
They told me the police could not arrive and told me to leave the premises after an hour.
I am 17 this year and I will pay the fine on coming Monday or Tuesday (item stolen on Friday night).
But I would like to know what are the chances Farmers will pursue my case and contact the police again, who will therefore ask me to go to court (further paying another $100 for turning up to court)?
One of the guards did not seem very fond of me, but the store manager seemed to understand my situation towards the end (and showed a LITTLE friendliness), aswell as another guard (quite friendly).
So what are the chances they will pursue my case and make the police get me involved in court?

    Thanks! :(

This is a US based legal information forum.

We can't help you here, we're not versed in Kiwi law.

I believe you could at least tell me what is the likelihood the police get involved in a matter like this?
The police said they were to take no further action against me unless Farmers pursues this case and asks them to do so.
What should I do now to make sure that I do not get called up by the police and sent to court?
I know what to do in court, I will plead guilty, but the problem is, on top of the fine of shoplifting, I have to pay for just getting into court.

So what is the chance that Farmers will ask the police to pursue my case, and what is the chance that the police will comply with them? After I pay my Civil Recovery Demand fine?

This is just so I can be prepared for my consequences, let's say.

Do y'all speak some obscure variant of English down yonder way, where words don't mean quite the same thing? Or are you just being willfully obtuse?

The law in New Zealand is not the same as the law in the US. You might see to getting yourself an attorney, or whatever the special Kiwi word for that is.
