Theoretically possible. But the reality is that courts want TWO parents to be responsible for children and they're not in the habit of removing that responsibility from one parent unless there is a "replacement" parent waiting in the wings to assume that responsibility. In other words, if you're not remarried to someone willing to legally adopt the child, don't count on the court stopping child support regardless of signing over custody.
There are very few states where a persons parental rights/obligations are terminated and they are still on the hook for support.
Theoretically, if their parental rights are terminated by the courts, they no longer have a child. You don't pay child support on kids that are not yours. Unless you count the welfare benefits I have to pay for out of my tax money. :rolleyes:
