Paid Credit Card with Other Person's Bank Account
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
My Ex-GF and I were a live-in couple for several years, we were like financially "unified", and I was the person who pays for everything (groceries, electronics, travel, etc). Most of these charges went to my Credit card (credit card has only my name), so, when it comes to payments, we pay a part out of her Bank account (she acknowledges this) and the other part out of my bank account. Few times, she transfers money from her bank account to mine, and the credit card balance is fully paid by my account. Fast forward to present, the last credit card statement was about 18K dollars, and I paid about 12K from my bank account, and about 6k from hers. She and I broke up just a few days later because of relationship problems.
Now, after a month, she is accusing me of stealing money from her account:confused:. Could this be a something bad against me? I have all the statements of my credit card and my bank account. We verbally agreed to pay the credit card together, so she never have to carry money with her. Any advise, help will be greatly appreciated!!!
BTW, Excellent Forum:D, I've learnt a lot from it.
Re: Paid Credit Card with Other Person Bank Account
You either had her permission to use her money to pay down the account balance, or you didn't. You know the answer to that; we don't.
If you had permission and she's lying, you can try to use past practices as evidence of her consent or, perhaps, some other evidence you haven't told us about.

If she files a fraud claim with her bank, she may be reimbursed the amount charged to her account. If she is successful in her fraud claim, be ready for problems with your credit card issuer. Not only will they charge the payment back to your account, but they may even take further action by closing your credit line.
Re: Paid Credit Card with Other Person's Bank Account
It seems like she disputed her bank already, as the amount was charged back to the credit card,
I haven't received any communication for my credit card company yet.
I will post what happens next once I know it.
Thanks!
