My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
I am 18yrsald, and I was involved in a theft case in Spring, TX. I was with my friend to Macy's and we started to look some jewelry. She asked me if I liked some of them, and I told her yes. After that, I went to the shoes department, because my parents told me to find a nice shoe for my birthday.
A security personnel came to me and told me that I'm arrested in company of my friend, who was discovered with some jewelry in her purse. I told them that I don't have anything to do with that, but they told me that because i was in some security cameras looking some of the jewelry she had, I'm also arrested.
I have expended 10 hrs in jail, until my father paid the fine. We also paid the fine from Macy's, and now I'm waiting to go to court in 45 day.
Should I get a lawyer? What is the penalty that I may have? Will this issue go to my records?
My only fault is to have this kind of "friends"
