    Last Name Change After Naturalization
This is for the state of Massachusetts, where I go to college.

I am already a naturalized citizen, and want to change the spelling of my last name so it's easier for people to pronounce.

The form asks that I file a petition form, birth certificate, and filing fee.

1.) However, I changed my first name DURING naturalization, do I need to send in a separate form?

2.) Do I need to publish my name change in a newspaper or anything? I have no criminal records or anything. When I used to live in Maryland, my petition got rejected because I did not circulate my request in a newspaper. Is Massachusetts rules on name change less complicated?

3.) Do I go to the family probation court or a court for immigration law?

    Thanks alot!

You can read an overview of the name change process here. You can read about how to document the prior name change here. This is a state court matter.
