How long does it take to receive a civil demand?
Can anyone tell me, from experience, how long the civil demand letter took to arrive to your house from the day you were caught shoplifting. I'm going away in less than 2 weeks and I would hate for the letter to arrive while I'm away - since I haven't told my parents :( Thanks for your help.

hi... it took mine almost 4 months to get to me- Oct 9- Feb 21- however for some reason the city state and zip was messed up on my case... so I do not know how long that delayed it- I do know however that I called incessantly and they kept saying they were backlogged- so I would make a call to the stores legal dept that the store should have provided you with at the time of the incident- better to keep on top of it than keep wondering!! :-) Good luck!

I was stopped in Nov of 2005 at Rob-May. The LP let me go and gave me a warning and said to just expect a civil demand, with probably no chrages to pay either because the item was of little value. Its April and I still haven't received anything. Does anyone know if its possible I will just never recieve it, since Rob-May is going through their transition to Macys as well?
