Feeling Guilty and Worried After Price Tag Switching
I switched some price tags at Macy's yesterday. I took two similar dresses by the same brand into the fitting room and switched them up. The original price was the same, but one was 65% off, and I feel stupidly tempting. I went to the cashier and paid with my credit card after that.

Now I am thinking to bring the item back there and just return it to them and get my peace of mind back. The dress is a well know brand and I think they only carry one for each size, so I guess they can keep track of their selling items easily. The different was almost 200$ cheaper. Plus I am sure I am on their cameras while wandering around picking up clothes.

This is my first and will be the only time. I am so worry because I read from some other thread that someone got police came over his place 2 days after he switched price tags and purchased the items. What should I do??

    Many thanks

nothing is going to happen to you if you walked out with the item with no problems. Its not like the store knew you switched price tags.

Return the item if you have a problem with your conscious.

Thanks for replying. Do you think they might trace me through my card info? I mean $200 is a lot of money.

Either way I am feeling awful. I am just not sure if bringing the item back to the store would lead me to other trouble??

it is a lot of money.. but unless they saw you on camera price tag switching at that time they won't know its you and unless they take inventory they won't even realize you price tagged switch. Even then they'll chock it up to shoplifting so you're only making it worse for people who get caught shoplifting.

Don't worry about getting caught because you won't be. If you're worried about your conscious just go back to the store and tell them you think you underpaid for the item because you think the item should be more expensive and pay the difference.

Thank you so much, it sounds like a good solution. I'll do that and remember my lesson.

    You could simply say this:
I bought this item last week. Today when I was in the store, I noticed it is selling at a much higher price. I don't recall seeing any ad signs near it at the time? Could you check into that for me? Because I would rather pay the correct price.
