Landlord Refuses to Give Notice Before Entering
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California

My daughter and I have lived in this home for 9 years. Never late with rent ever. On Sunday morning I awoke to the sound of someone sawing trees. I opened the front door and there was a man cutting branchs and bushes. I had no idea who this was. I called landlord, only got message machine. It has been a week since this happened and very day this week someone has been on this property making noise. My daughter just started to work the night shift (from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am) at an elderly medical facility and needs to sleep days. The landlord knows this. Yet she refuses to abide by our request to at least let us know somone is entering the property. THis is now one week later and still no notice and she will not talk to us. We have really been ideal tenants. I maintained the yard and took excellent care of the house. I think she is becoming senile. What can we do so we can have some peace. None of this work is of an emergency or even needed. What can we do? We are going to move but until we find a home how do we stop her from sending her agents to disrupt us?

California law does not require a landlord to give notice unless he/she is acutally entering your apartment/home. It is common courtesy to let you know when he'll be on the property.

He has the right to maintain the outside of his property as long as such maintenance is done within normal business hours.
