    Officer Didn't Ask for Insurance
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: Michigan. I recently was pulled over for speeding in a construction zone. he said he clocked me going 62 in a 40 which i think was ridiculous.. i know that i was speeding but my girlfriend seen the cop way ahead and said slow down there is a cop..so by the time i got to him i know i was not speeding. when i was pulled over i never admitted guilt. he wrote me a ticket for 50 in a 40 construction zone. the question i have is that when he came up to the car he asked for liscence and registration and proof of insurance. it was my girlfriends car so she starts digging through the glove compartment and couldn't find it. the cop took my lisence and said keep looking. so he went back to his car and at that time my girlfriend found what we were looking for. he came back to the car with my liscence and my ticket. i said we found the insurance do you need it? and he goes oh yeah..no dont worry about it.

I feel as if something wasn't right there and he didn't do what he was suppose to. could i bring this to court to help get the ticket dropped since this will put me at 8 points? is there anything i can do to help drop the points? i will pay the ticket. that isnt't the problem. i just dont want the points on my record. thanks to anyone who can help me out!

While you were digging through the glove box, he went back to his car and confirmed that the Secretary of State has you on record as insured. I don't know why you think that would get you out of your other ticket.

Impressive quote, be sure to use that in court if you go.

ps, radar has a range of approx 1 mile, depending on the model and setting. It could be possible that the officer obtained your speed...well before you passed his location. True, you may have been driving the speed limit where he was, but you may have been speeding prior to that.

    I love it.

the cop gives the kid a break on the speed. The kid does admit to speeding.

and all he thinks of is; he didn;t force me to show proof of insurance so I should get out of the ticket.

    wow.

    ok. You want info/advice?

There is nothing the officer did, that you have posted, that was wrong and would reduce your liabilities concerning this ticket.

    pay the man.
