No End Date to Support in Mediation Order
My question involves child support in the State of: California
My son turned 18 two months ago and high school ends in June. He isnt graduating, may attend summer school, or not, he doesnt know. We really dont get along well and he has had considerable behavioral & legal issues, constantly in trouble. Communication with his mother completely deteorated as his issues progressed...he was living with her and refused to live with me. We have a 10+ year old mediation created, court sanctioned order that cover holidays, visitation, etc but doesnt state an end date. How do I terminate automatically deducted support? I have no arrears. Is this something I can accomplish without securing an attorney? Thanks in advance for any & all information!

Just making sure I understand...
You have the CS automatically deducted by your employer?
You are supposed to have a specific custody/visitation time but are seeing the child 0%?
Re: No End Date to Support in Mediation Order
Correct, support has essentially always been automatically deducted from wages by the employer by mandate of the state. I was never tardy nor was it a case of not paying prior...I figured this is was norm and regardless it has actually made it easier.
I occasionally do have visitation, but I purposefully havent painted the entire picture here. You cant have visitation with a 17 year that habitually runs away to do drugs, or is in and out of detention. This isnt a typical "by the book relationship" unfortunatley and prefer not to convey in-depth details of deteoration over the past few years.
Thanks again for any information on how ending CS works without breaking the bank...I've had reduced hours and furloughs for 9mos now.

You should contact the dept of child support services to check their procedure on how to stop the garnishments.
