My question involves criminal law for the state of: Australia
Hello,
My mate was telling me recently about something he did and he asked me to make a post for him as he is in panic mode.
for less confusion lets just call my mate John and his friend Bob.
John was at a shop with a bob and Bob decided to steal a item worth about $400, John did nothing to stop him and they parted ways.Bob took this item to a car were John was and john helped load this item into the car and the drove off.
My question is, has john committed a crime?
If so, this is not the 1st time he has been busted for stealing, apparently he got caught as a minor for petty theft about 3 times, no serious charges were handed out just probation which has long ended. so what would he be looking at if he has broken the law again?
He admits it was a very stupid thing to do and regrets it. but in his mind he didn't really steal anything and probably should have alerted someone.
