    Temp Agency Assignments Conflict with Part Time Job
    Long story short. I currently work part-time which is a permanent position at a law firm. I just got a call from my temp agency (after not calling me for months) with a 2 week assignment. I told them that I have a job already working 3 days a week and was looking for an assignment for 1-2 days. Coincidentally, this is the same agency I just recently listed as my last employer to file for unemployment. I worked for them last year for 3 months while I was collecting unemployment from my previous employer who laid me off.

    Since I work part-time, I'm eligible for UI. But what if an assignment is given to me which I can't take because I'm already working. I don't want to quit my permanent part time job for this two week assignment. There in lies my conflict. Will my UI benefits claim be denied?

    I just have a feeling my temp agency is going to call EDD and say I refused work. :mad:

    You shouldn't lose your partial benefits for refusing to quit a permanent part-time job in favor of a two-week full-time job. If you did that, you could expect that you would not only lose the income from the part-time job but that the most you would receive in benefits afterward is the partial benefit you currently receive. Of course, I have no way of knowing what your temp agency will report to UI, or how they will characterize their offer.
