False Date on Court Ordered Support
My question involves child support in the State of: Washington.
I recently went through a temporary child support hearing. I am still in the process of divorce and when my wife expressed the desire to have a set temporary amount while waiting for the divorce I attempted to start a case with the state but she did not provide financial documentation. She then had her lawyer file for a temporary support hearing. At the hearing her financial information was still not available and the judge went with what they said she made. This amount was not to far off but after the judge ruled the amount, which I agreed to, that was supposed to be effective immediately no back support owed my wife's lawyer filed the documentation and dated it wrong (for a year earlier). Now the state of Washington CHild Services is saying I owe for a year of back support. My wife's lawyer has said he will fix it but has drafted a new order and says I need to sign it. I did not sign the first one and am afraid if I sign the second one I may be agreeing to more than I know. I attmepted to get clarification from the judge but the secretary said I would have to schedule another hearing. It does not seem like I should have to go to court because he filed paperwork that was not accurate with the ruling. I am looking for suggested courses of action. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
