Emancipation
My question involves guardianship in the State of: Texas, Im 17 years old and currently reside with my grandparents. My parents have allowed me to leave but are not helping me sign any papers including my driver license and other stuff. I either want to become emancipated or have them become my legal gaurdians. Now, my parents will not cooperate so ive done a little research online. I seem to match the fields where as i must reside in this state, live away from them, be of at least 16 years of age, and be able to manage my own affairs. I have two jobs, still in school with better grades, and live with grandparents who provide me with all the essentials. Will i need an attorney, and if so what might the cost be, and does it seem likely that the judge will grant me? If, any questions ill happily answer ASAP.
Thanks- Blake Dudley

Re: Emancipation
Living with grandparents who provide you with all essentials is NOT emancipation. Emancipation means you provide YOURSELF with all essentials.

Re: Emancipation
Yes, i understand that. But what would i have to do in order to have them get custody of me? And what would the likelyhood be of it? My father whom i lived with has an ex convict background so shouldn't that help my case?

Re: Emancipation
They would have to go to court and apply for custody.
And their having custody would not in any way emancipate you. A change of custody and emancipation are two different things.
