My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York
A friend of mine got a ticket for possession of marijuana. She is 17, so she was wondering if her parents had to go with her to court, or if she would be able to go alone. I'm not totally sure..
I believe under present New York law she would be charged as an adult. If she's charged in juvenile court, her parents will probable be required to attend. If not, she can appear on her own but her probation officer may want to talk to her parents.
