Can the Father Change Our Baby's Last Name to His
I am pregnant and expecting shortly. The father after asking me to marry him, talking me into a baby, getting me pregnant, now doesn't know if it's what he wants. He's had nothing to do with this pregnancy and forced me to track him down to get moving on legal issues as single co-parents of a child. The father will not be present for the birth of the child and I plan on giving the child my last name and choosing the first and middle name without consulting the father. Will he beable to have the childs name changed if he so chooses? A manditory paternity test will show he's the biological father, and he has signed a paternity acknowledgement.

in your situation, I highly doubt it. Unless there is a compelling reason to change the name (he has sole custody as an example), a court is most likely not going to allow it.

You mentioned that the father asked you to marry him, are you married?

We're not married and I have no intentions of getting married to him ever! He abandoned me sick and pregnant with all the financial and other shared responsibilities. He hasn't had anything to do with the pregnancy since week 5 (the same time the severe morning sickness, and some other complications started). He harrassed me for the first two months after he abandoned everything. Tried to talk me into abortion and adoption, told me he got rid of the dog we shared (just to be mean), cursed me out via text, then he took off out of state and I've had to track him down to start legal proceedings.
