My question involves a credit report problem in the State of: London England.
I discovered that my credit report held a record for a credit card i did not have i reported this to the police and the person was tracked down and arrested however i have been contacting the credit company involved and the credit agency since January but the record still shows on my report, can i take legal action against them to push them along to get this removed, they have been provided with a copy of the arrest sheet issued by the police. Any advise would be great thanks.
You can contact the credit bureaus and have the account that is NOT yours deleted as it is a fraud account.
You need to pull all of your credit reports to see exactly what is on them. The bureaus in the UK will delete the fraud accounts within 30 days once they verify that the account is not yours. Your mailing address should be differient then the one on the fraud account.
Here is a link;
http://www.experian.co.uk/
Be sure to order all of your credit reports through that site and NOT just the one from Experian.
Re: Error in Credit Report
Last I checked, although Tony Blair seemed to sometimes have a different opinion than mine, London, England is not a U.S. State. ;)
I agree with OhMy in terms of following up with credit reporting agencies, to see if they'll remove the fake info. But I can't help you with U.K. credit reporting laws, as this is a U.S. forum and we focus on U.S. law. Perhaps you can find a U.K. forum or resource where people can advise.
