    N400 Trips Outside the Country
OK - I don't see how I can avoid giving this away - I'm originally from Canada. In the past 5 years, I've probably made 15-20 trips to Canada to visit family because I can drive there in a few hours. None of those trips would be more than 10 days and they certainly don't add up to 6 months (even across all 5 years).

The trouble is that the application requests that I itemize the trips with start/end dates. I didn't keep track of this information and it would be very difficult to reconstruct accurately.

I wonder if the INS would be so kind as to supply me with what they know about my travels. I know where I've crossed by land and there haven't been any air travel trips outside the country.

Has anyone else been in this boat? Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

You're right that they have better records of your trips than you do. But no, unfortunately they won't give you a copy.

Attach to your N-400 a list of all the trips to the best of your recollection, and indicate that you're doing so based upon your best recollection but that your dates may not be entirely correct. Make sure that you're accurate in a big picture sense - the question is about whether you maintained your residency, so you don't want to omit any lengthy trips. If you "forget" a trip that took you out of the country for three or four months, for example, that's going to raise all sorts of red flags.
