    Employer Confiscates Cell Phones
My question involves business law in the state of: New York

As of today my employer decided that all employees were to leave their personal cell phones in her office during work hours as opposed to in our lockers which are located in our break room. Is this legal? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is legal. There is no law guaranteeing you the absolute right to have your cell phones with you at work. As long as you get them back at the end of the work day she is legally within her rights.

It would, in fact, be legal if she made a rule banning cell phones at work altogether.

Thank you for the reply. What if something were to happen to it while it was in her possession? No contract or anything was signed so how can i be guaranteed that if something were to happen to it they would have to cover the expenses?
