Empancipation Help
I'm a 17 and I work full time and make decent money (I also have my GED). I pay for my own food, health insurance, doctor bills, and other nesscesities. I also help my parents every now and then (also paid rent last year when my parents were making no money). My father is disabled and my mother hasn't worked for years. The only thing my parents provide is a roof over my head and that's only because I can't move out because of my age.
I also have really bad health and even though I can pay for my doctor bills, I have to literally force my parents to take me and they throw the biggest fit about doing anything for me.
I'm getting tired being hold down and unable to do things I want to do. Is there any way I could get empancipated and avoid the long process? The thing though is that my father won't empancipate me because he doesn't believe in it.
Btw, I live in Florida.

Florida Emancipation
Under Florida law your parents would have to initiate the emancipation process.
How close are you to 18? You may just want to wait it out. You may also want to check into local law enforcement policies in relation to 17-year-olds who set up safe and appropriate independent households, as you may find that even though you aren't technically emancipated the local police have little interest in making you return home.
