Is it Child Abandonment to Drop Kids Off With the Other Parent
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Nevada.

I don't know if this is really neglect or abuse. But my son's kids mom, dropped them off to him about a month ago claiming to come back in a week to pick them up. She has only contacted him once, everything else has been thru email. She has no concern for the twins. She doesn't ask about them. She left them knowing that my son is unemployed at the moment and is living with my sister. She only brought 3 outfits apiece, no shoes. My grandson has asthma, my granddaughter has burn marks on her chest.

How would we go about getting full custody? At the present time, neither parent has legal custody.

Have the injuries (burns) been seen by a physician and documented yet? If not, that's the FIRST step.

Has the father established paternity yet? If not, that needs to be the SECOND step.

No, the burns haven't been seen or documented by a physician. The marks are old. The mom claims that it was done by a curling iron.

My son established paternity at birth.

There's information on custody, along with form packages, here.

The exact steps you would take depend upon whether or not there is presently a custody or visitation order.
