Re: Expired Claim, Still Eligible for EUC
We have understood the question all along. :wallbang:
What you do not appear to be capable of understanding is that it is not a black and white, carved in stone, always yes or always no answer. Every unemployment claim is specific to the individual. The answer is not always the same for everyone.
The ONLY ones who can say definitely what the answer to YOUR unemployment claim is, is the state. It is NOT POSSIBLE for strangers on an internet message board to give you a guaranteed answer as to your unemployment claim.
Yes, I understand that this is not the answer you want. Yes, I understand that for some unintelligible reason you find it rude, arrogant and disrespectful for us to give you any answer except Yes or No. Yes, I understand that you believe that the answer IS a clear and unmistakeable Yes or No and that every single individual who asks this question will have exactly the same answer, across the board, regardless of their individual circumstances.
But you are wrong. And that is my last word on the subject.
Aaron, can we please lock this thread now?
Re: Expired Claim, Still Eligible for EUC
I understand exactly what you are saying because I am in the exact same boat!
I'm in Indiana and yes, my UI claim was for one year. I got the EEUC which was 20 wks on tier I and 13 wks on tier II. I have 10 wks left on tier II, but the website made me file a new claim this past Sun. because my original UI claim expired Apr 18.
It is confusing to me. When those extensions were written into law, states should have been proactive and automatically extended the UI claim date as well, because even though my EEUC shows "Open" status, a new, second UI claim (the one they made me file), shows "Suspended."
Called the local office and the Indianapolis office, they both say different things, so they're no help. I'm going to have to go in person (dreaded) because they won't help on the phone--BTW don't think it's easy--I've spent forever trying to get through before actually getting a person!
Re: Expired Claim, Still Eligible for EUC
Hi ~ I thought I would add this information in case someone else happens along this forum seeking the needed info. The simple answer is: YES. I found that the claim does need to be refiled after the one year expiration in California. I did not find this on the EDD website nor from a straight answer from their call center. This info came from people on another forum who already had to go though this mess. My claim expired on 4-25-09 and just found out that I need to refile. On the other forum, people have had claims expire in early march and are still waiting for new claim forms. They have gotten though to EDD only to find out that the programs are being upgraded and the claim forms will start to be sent out shortly. If anyone has any new info, please add it so we can stay up to date. Thanks.
