I had my interview last week, I sure that my citizenship will denied because I crossed the border illegally 14 years ago, and immigration took my firgerprints and when I had my interview they told me that they found another file with different name, I know that they will denied my citizenship, my permanent resident will expired soon, if they denied my citizenship can be denied my renew resident card? I need to hired a lawyer? thanks
Re: My Citizenship May Be Denied
You crossed the border illegally and yet still somehow managed to gain permanent residency?
Something's not right there.
Yes, you need to hire an attorney. If you came into the US illegally, it's entirely possible that you'll be deported.
Re: My Citizenship May Be Denied
My father submmited pappers to immigrated whole family, when the pappers arrived to immigrated the whole family, INS saparated my file because I was over 21 years old,( is when I crossed the border illegally) so my father become US citizen so he can claim me, and the procces was faster.
Re: My Citizenship May Be Denied
OK, that makes more sense.
What makes you think that your application for citizenship will be denied, then?
Re: My Citizenship May Be Denied
When I had the interview with the INS officer, she asked me how, who, help me to become Permanent Resident, I told her that my father claimed me. Before I become Permanent Resident I crossed to border illegally,( they took my fingerprints) now that I applied to Citizenship the found my fingerprints with another name( are mine) I denied to the INS officer that fingerprints are mine. I know for sure that they will denied my Citizenship because these fingerprints are mine, My Permanent Resident Card will denied soon, so can denied my Permanent Resident Card also?
Thanks
Re: My Citizenship May Be Denied
Possibly.
You really need to get together with an immigration attorney and get this sorted out.
