First Time Assault Charge for a 16 Year Old
My question involves criminal law for the state of: North Carolina

I am 16 years old and I live in North Carolina. Two days ago I had an altercation after school with a boy and a girl who have been calling and texting my phone since December and Calling me names at school ever since. The girl called me a name and i responded by calling her a name too then her boyfriend turned around and got in my face along with his hand so I moved his hands out of my face then she came up and pushed me and told me not to touch her boyfriend and I admit I pushed her back. He then looked at me and said that if i touched his girlfriend again he would go get an administrator as if she didn't just hit me. He did and now I'm suspended for 10 days but they're. The school called my mom and told her that he had a cut on his chest and chin and he said that I did it when I did not. We were in between the lockers when all this happened so it wasn't caught on tape so that part is only he say, she say, but when i tried to push a book out of his hand that was caught on tape. He is now pressing charges against me for his injuries when i had absolutely nothing in my hands and it wasn't caught on tape that I did anything. So what could happen to me if I am charged? & could i sue him for falsely accussing me? They are now going around the school spreading rumors about what really happened can they get in trouble for that at school and in court?

You have enough worries of your own. You should not expect to be able to sue them for anything. For now, work on minimizing the consequences of the criminal charge you're facing.

Next time people are texting you and you don't want them to, block their numbers.

This case also illustrates why you should have gone to the authorities when you were originally harassed. First one to the courthouse generally wins.

How do I minimize the consequences? Just by getting a lawyer?
