My question involves insurance law for the state of: california
I had surgery on 11/15/2007 took of two week off do to surgery. Didn’t return to work gave my resignation On Jan, 2008 and now I started to received bill of 19, 000.00 from insurance
I called the insurance they told me that they received a call on 12/2007 from Company to cancel my benefits from11/2007 when I was still working there can’t they actually do that?
Re: My Ex-Employer Cancelled My Insurance
What was the effective date of the cancellation? What does it say in the plan document about cancellations?
Re: My Ex-Employer Cancelled My Insurance
What two weeks did you take off? If you started taking time off on November 3, for example, your last date of work would have been Friday, October 31. When were you supposed to return to work?
You didn't contact your employer at all between the date in November when you were scheduled to return to work from surgery and the day in January you finally got around to formally resigning? Then they're amply justified in terminating you for your absenteeism.
Did your employer have 20 or more employees? Have you received any notification about COBRA rights?
