Can There Be Charges Brought Against a Man Threatening to Post Images/Videos of Me
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: New York
When I was 16 I met a man over the internet who was in his 20's and he lives in New York (I'm from the UK). I began to get close to this man and eventually was convinced into showing 'things' over webcam.
This happened over the next year and I tried to cut off all contact and he told me that he had recorded everything and he would post it on the net if I didn't continue to do as he said.
That was around a year and a half ago and I have tried to seek advice to get this stopped. I have been told he could be classed as in possession of child pornography and could face imprisonment and/or a fine for posting the material on the internet but I am now 18? I just wanted to know where I stand on the case and if I would be able to get him done for what he has done.
Re: Can There Be Charges Brought Against a Man Threatening to Post Images/Videos of M
Posting nude or lewd pictures of a minor is illegal (child porn). It does not matter if the person in the pics is now 18 or 80, they are still pics of juveniles and that is illegal.

I would need to have proof though right? Otherwise it would be my word against his?
Re: Can There Be Charges Brought Against a Man Threatening to Post Images/Videos of M
the proof IS the crime. If there is no proof, there is no crime.

ok thanks. Would this require a lawyer or just the police do you think?

to report a crime, you call the police
