    Transfer of Probation Between States
Does a probation officer have the final say in whether or not a person can transfer states?
My boyfriend is on probation in North Dakota and has applied and been accepted to school in Minnesota. School starts in August and he is not scheduled to get off of probation until October. His probabtion officer won't let him transfer states or get off two months early. He has one probation violation but other than that he has complied completly. Does his probation officer have the final say or can he find a way to fight it?

How did he apply for the move? In Ga where I moved from it was the officer who had to initiate the request. If he must move for school and the probation officer won't let him the only other options would be to call your lawyer and have them try to talk to the officer, speak to the person directly over the officer in the office, or speak with the judge. To maintain the integrity of the position though, most people will side with the probation officer unless there is a blatant overstep. With one violation against him it may not be possible, but always worth a shot.
