Impeding Traffic Citation
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Georgia
I recieved a citation for driving to slow in the left lane. According to the police officer i was driving to slow. However, the speed limit was 45 and I was driving 48. I was in the left lane because I was getting ready to make a turn. The police officer proceeded to pull me over and explain to me that I was impeding the flow of traffic because other people were passing me. I dont understand, I was going the slightly above the speed limit--how was i impeding traffic. Is this a situation that could be easily disputed?
Re: Impeding Traffic Citation
In California, one thing has nothing to do with the other. In other words, if the speed limit is 60 and you're traveling 65, you're still required to move over if someone behind you wants to go faster.
I heard that from the head of the CHP on a radio talk show. He was discussing traffic on the freeway and I imagine that's the only place that that law would apply....it certainly wouldn't on a multi-lane city street.
