    Shoplifting. But No Police Involved
My question involves criminal law for the state of:

    Hello,

A few weeks ago I took an alcohol pad from a box at the Duane & Reade store and got caught by the securities. (First time I ever take something that's not mine but I didn't want to buy the box cause I just need one cause I had a very bad cut and touched the pole on the train without knowing) They said I would recieve a letter. Which means that I have to pay a fine. I have no problem in paying it because I know that I deserved it eventhough what I took wasent even worth a dollar. But I just wanted to know if anyone knows how long it takes to recieve the Letter. I been very stressed with this and I just want ot pay it... Should I call and ask or should I wait? Does anyone know how long it takes?

    Thank you.

P.S. Please do not judge me or anything like I said this was the first time and well no one is perfect. Just need a lil advice and help. Well thank again.

Give it a couple of months.

Plan on it being for a couple of hundred.

About the same thing happened to me. I got the letter exactly a month later. I got $225 for $10 worth of stolen merchandise. :/
