Re: Enough to Be Emancipated
You need to be self-supportive. In other words, you need to have you OWN place of residence, provide your OWN transportation (your own vehicle, pay insurance, gasoline, maintenance, etc), have a job that FULLY supports you without the assistance of others, have an education, etc. An argument of 'they're mean to me' won't hold water! However, if you're being physically abused, you need to call the authorities.
Based on your post, you will be emancipated by operation of law when you reach the age of 18.
Re: Enough to Be Emancipated
Just so that you know... every teenager, including my own, believes that they are occasionally verbally abused.
They are overwhelmingly wrong.
Did you read the sticky at the top of the forum as the forum rules demanded?
Re: What's Enough to Be Emancipated
In your state, since you are not already living away from home, self-supporting and managing your own financial affairs, no reason is enough.
Re: What's Enough to Be Emancipated
My answer is usually....
Look up... who pays for the roof that you see?
Think back... who paid for your last three meals?
Look down... who bought the clothes you are wearing?
If any of these answers isn't "me", you really don't have much of a chance...

And that was my point.
Emancipation is not for teenagers that WANT it... it is for teenagers that NEED it.
You don't NEED it.
Re: What's Enough to Be Emancipated
I don't think you're quite getting it.
In your state, if at the age of 16 you apply for emancipation and you are not ALREADY living away from home, supporting yourself and managing all your own financial affairs, the answer is AUTOMATICALLY no.
